Barrier-grid animation is an effect that takes place when a striped, transparent overlay is moved across an interlaced image. When an image is broken down into small lines and a striped, opaque overlay is held above it, the drawing will create the optical illusion of it moving on the paper. Coxy is a British artist who uses this technique to create drawings that look like the objects or characters are walking, running, or spinning on paper.
