As of Sunday night, TikTok and WeChat will be banned from U.S. app stores.
This is according to the country's Commerce Department on Friday.
Users who have already downloaded the TikTok app will be able to continue using it, but new downloads and updates will be prohibited.
That is, until November 12th, when it's likely to be fully banned.
The department said the order aims to combat China's "malicious collection of American's personal data".
TikTok expressed disappointment, and said it will continue to challenge the unjust ban.
WeChat's owner said the restrictions were "unfortunate", but said it will continue talks with the U.S.
China's Commerce Ministry opposed the U.S. decision on Saturday, and warned of necessary measures in response.
