Andile Lungisa is waking up in prison

Andile Lungisa's family says his lawyers will apply for a bail extension pending his petition to Constitutional Court. He spent his first night behind bars at the Port Elizabeth Correctional Facility. The former ANC councillor was found guilty of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. He attacked DA councillor, Ryno Kayser, during a scuffle in the Nelson Mandela Bay Council chamber in 2016. Lungisa turned to the Constitutional Court after the Appeals court rejected his bid to overturn his two-year sentence.
