The tragic story of a young man losing his life to the opioid drug pandemic that has besieged the United States.
Melinda, her husband Pietro, her son Guiseppe, and her daughter Michela talk with Keaton Douglas from The iTHIRST Initiative about the loss of their beloved son Nunzio to a drug overdose on September 22, 2018.
The family shares their emotional raw thoughts with Keaton Douglas executive director of The iTHIRST Initiative, Paterson, NJ. The family is sharing their grief, their regrets, how faith has gotten them through the darkest days, and why they are sharing their experiences to hopefully help other families going through the same stress with a drug-addicted family member.
The iTHIRST Initiative was adopted as a Mission of the Missionary Servants in 2017 in order to empower the Church to become a resource for all those suffering from addictions and their families.
Through their training programs and outreach services, iTHIRST is working with dioceses and parishes to form lay leaders and clergy into spiritual companions, equipped to offer appropriate
spiritual consolation and recovery resource information to this vulnerable and marginalized population
This is the first program of its kind in the world, and it's making a difference in many lives.
