Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and other young environmental activists met German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday... and called for tougher action on climate change.
After their 90-minute discussion in Berlin,... Thunberg urged world leaders to "step up".
"We asked her to treat the climate crisis like you treat any other crisis. What we want is leaders, we want people to step up to dare to step out of their comfort zones."
According to a German government spokesperson, the key topics were climate policy priorities, in particular, the goal of achieving climate neutrality in the EU by 2050.
Merkel and the climate activists reportedly agreed that global warming poses a challenge for the world... and industrialized countries have a "special responsibility" to tackle it.
