Pathrode recipe is famous across Mangalore and Malnad region of Karnataka. Its also famous in both Maharashtrian and Gujarati cuisine as “alu vadi” and “patra”. Pathrode or patrode is a very tasty snack or breakfast recipe prepared using rice and colocasia leaves. The leaves are smeared with a spicy, tangy masala and coconut paste, stacked and steamed. Not all verity of the leaves are good for cooking as few of them cause some itchiness inside the mouth and throat even after cooked.
