Mat Sabu's son slapped with 8-month prison sentence for drug offence

The Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court has sentenced Ahmad Saiful Islam Mohamad to eight months in prison after he was found guilty with regard to a drug charge.

The son of Amanah president Mohamad Sabu was convicted under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The section carries a maximum RM5,000 fine and a two-year jail sentence.

According to Berita Harian, Magistrate Mohamad Aizat Abdul Rahim ruled that the prosecution had been able to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

He also ruled that Ahmad Saiful would begin his sentence today and be supervised by the police and National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) for an additional two years after he completes his sentence.
