00:24 On Wednesday, Said Hussein announced that the government will introduce the Madani white

00:28 rice, priced at RM30 for a 10kg sack from March 1st, and that it will be the sole category

00:36 of white rice in the country, replacing the local white rice and imported white rice categories.

00:43 He said the price of a 5kg sack of Madani white rice will be set at RM15.50, while a

00:50 1kg bag of rice will be priced at RM3.50.

00:54 He also said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had approved the introduction of the Madani

00:59 white rice category.

01:00 However, Mohamad said nothing has been finalized on the issue and the matter will be discussed

01:06 at NACO's meeting next week.

01:09 He added that any announcement will only be made by the Cabinet and will be subject to

01:13 the Control of Paddy and Rice Act 1994, Act 522.
