House drops move to grant ABS-CBN provisional franchise

peaker Alan Peter Cayetano and the House leadership decided Tuesday to drop the bid to grant ABS-CBN broadcast network a provisional legislative franchise to reopen and operate until October 31.
Addressing the plenary session, Cayetano directed the House Committee on Legislative Franchise to instead act swiftly in holding marathon hearings for the 12 pending bills seeking to grant the embattled network a 25-year legislative franchise.
