‘Operation Twilight’ at Sylhet militant den ends

The army on Monday evening said commandoes recovered two of the four bodies of suspected militants found inside Atia Mahal in Sylhet.

However, the army which led the Operation Twilight since Friday, is yet to announce a formal end to the raid on the alleged militant den in Shibbari, Sylhet city.

In a briefing in Sylhet, brigadier general Fakhrul Ahsan said the commandoes had successfully carried out the 'sensitive' operation on Monday.

"There is a huge amount of explosives inside the Atia Mahal that can easily blow off a part of the building," he told newsmen.

All the four bodies were found lying on the ground floor of the building, he said.

The army officer confirmed that they had detected one of the bodies as woman.

So far, he added, two bodies have been brought out of the house and handed over to the police. "There are suicide vests tightened with the bodies of the militants," he said.

The army officer could not ascertain the identity of the dead persons, saying that once all the bodies are recovered, the police and RAB would try to find out.

Meanwhile, a police officer told newsmen that the operation is at the fag end.
