तीनों सेनाएं अपने आधुनिकीकरण के लिए कई रक्षा सौदों को कर रही थी, जो कि कई चरणों में हैं. भारतीय वायु सेना फ्रांस से 36 राफेल लड़ाकू विमान और रूस से एस -400 वायु रक्षा हथियार प्रणाली के लिए भुगतान करने की प्रक्रिया में है. जबकि, सेना भी अमेरिका और रूस सहित विभिन्न देशों से टैंक, आर्टिलरी गन और असॉल्ट राइफल भी ले रही है. वहीं, नौसेना ने हाल ही में अमेरिका से 24 मल्टीरोल हेलिकॉप्टरों के लिए समझौते पर साइन किए थे.
