The U.S. Federal Reserve said in its periodic Beige Book report on Wednesday that economic activity has contracted "sharply and abruptly" across the country because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Fed explained that highly uncertain outlooks were reported in all regions,... with conditions to worsen in the next months to come.
It added most areas saw manufacturing declines that varied among industries with major obstacles in supply chains.
The Beige Book surveys the Fed's 12 districts for activity across sectors.
