In this video, I explain What Causes Diabetes (Type 2). It is important to first understand What Causes It so that it will equip us to start making lifestyle changes to prevent or start making efforts to reverse diabetes. (In my subsequent Videos I will be clarifying several myths on Diabetes and also explaining if Diabetes is Reversible, what are the ways in which we can look to reverse Diabetes. )
Type 2 diabetes in 90% of cases is caused
By INSULIN RESISTANCE

Causes of Insulin resistance are
1) Overweight and obesity.
2) Processed refined carbohydrates and high sugar diet.
3) Chronic stress &
4) Small % of cases it is due to hereditary and genetic.

Example: When we keep on eating a highly processed carbohydrate diet, insulin secretion increases from the pancreas’s to control blood sugars.
More refined carbohydrates-more blood sugar-more insulin -Hyperinsulinemia (Insulin excess).
more Hyperinsulinemia over a period of time leads to Insulin resistance.
Insulin resistance leads to metabolic syndrome which in turn leads to OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY.
If Insulin resistance /metabolic syndrome /obesity persists for 5 to 10 years, it can lead to DIABETES.

Just like we get Antibiotics resistance due to frequent use of antibiotics, the Body develops Insulin resistance due to frequent spikes of insulin due to high sugar or carbohydrates diet.
SO DIABETES IS BASICALLY A SUGAR DISEASE.

If we can reduce Insulin resistance, Diabetes can be reversible in many cases.
I will explain this in my coming videos.
