Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the recent spike in Malaysia’s Covid-19 cases is mainly due to the Health Ministry’s active case detection at hotspots.
He said this spike is expected because of the active case detection at the places where the ministry has implemented the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).
For example, in Kampung Sungai Lui, the ministry managed to pick up 41 students from a madrasah tahfiz in that area who are Covid-19 positive through the active testing.
217 new cases were announced on Friday - the second highest daily jump for the country.
