Man risks life to save monkeys stranded on high-voltage transmission tower in western India

A man climbed a high-voltage transmission tower (66,000 volts) to rescue stranded monkeys in the west Indian state of Gujarat.

The incident took place in Netran, Bharuch district on March 13.

Distressing footage shows the man climbing to rescue the animals and some monkeys appear to fall from the transmission tower.

According to local reports, the power was shut off during the rescue.

In total 22 monkeys were stranded and eight monkeys were killed after being electrocuted.

Luckily, the remaining animals were rescued and the power was later turned back on.
