Spiti Valley EP 5 | What is Buddhism ? | A Day with a Monk Part I

A day was well spent in the Key monastery. We talked a lot with the monks in Key and tried to know about Buddhism practice in Spiti Valley of India. We discussed several aspects of Buddhism and how this sect is different from Japanese sect of Nichiren Daishonin buddhism ( nam myoho renge kyo) which is highly recommended practice by people in planes.

Spiti is now home to a purely homogenous Buddhist society that belongs to the Vajrayana sect of Tibetan Buddhism. In the 9th century AD Padmasambhava introduced Buddhism to the people of Spiti.
Dromton, a disciple of Atisa, is attributed with the construction of the Ki Monastery in the early 11th century. It belongs to the Ge lugs pa (Yellow hats) sect.
