The United States has deployed a RC-135U reconnaissance plane to one of its air bases in Japan... a move seen as a way to boost Washington's surveillance of North Korea.
Aviation tracker Aircraft Spots tweeted that a RU-135U Combat Sent arrived at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa on Tuesday from Offutt Air Force base in Nebraska.
The U.S. Air Force operates two RC-135Us to collect and analyze electronic radar transmissions, including those from missile bases.
The U.S. deployed the plane over the Korean Peninsula in May after North Korea fired short-range missiles believed to be the regime's version of Russia's Iskander-class ballistic missiles.
