A distressed cow in southern India does not let steamrollers or other heavy vehicles pass by it on the street, reportedly after her calf had died in a road accident years earlier.
Most recently, the cow was seen blocking a steamroller in Shikaripur, Karnataka state on September 28.
The cow reportedly springs into action whenever it hears steamrollers moving and rushes to block them, getting in front of the heavy vehicles and forcing them to stop.
The drivers usually take the help of passersby to drive away the cow before moving on.
Local residents are fond of the gentle animal and even have a name for it, Swati.
They say Swati’s calf was hit by a road roller seven years ago and passed away.
Since then she is reportedly reluctant to let any road roller pass through the street where she spends most of her time.
A local resident, Chetan said: “She also blocks JCB excavators, which make similar noise. But she does not interfere with any other vehicle.”
