Eglise Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption:

While visiting Nice, I took a day trip to the beautiful village of Eze. I would recommend anybody visiting Nice or nearby to check Eze out. It really is a beautiful place.
Here is a bit of history about the church:
The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption of Eze is a church -style neoclassical the xviii th century dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption in Èze in the Alpes-Maritimes . The building is classified as a historical monument in 1984.
The church was rebuilt to replace the previous one which fell in ruins between 1764 and 1778 by the Italian architect Antoine Spinelli at the request of Duke Charles Emmanuel III of Savoy 2 .
The architect received a sum in payment on December 7, 1778. By the act of transfer of the sum which belonged to the council of manufactures, we know that its construction was almost completed, but not finished.
The prior Eze, Charles-François Fighiera, asked the Bishop of Nice , M gr Astesan to dedicate the church. the ceremony takes place on May 17, 1772.
On September 26, 1777, the bishop of Nice dedicated two bells named Marie-Madeleine and Laurence.
Charles-François Fighiera gave the church relics of St. Germain, August 16, 1778.
It was consecrated on May 17, 1779.
The church was repaired in 1887.
The bell tower was built in the xix th century. It was hit several times by the lightning which made disappear the original dome. The blue color of the dial of the clock is that of the Virgin 2 .
The classical appearance of the church façade contrasts with its Baroque interior.
Architecture:
The ocher facade is neoclassical, pierced with a bull's eye , with double Greek Corinthian pilasters , flanked by a two-level square steeple .
A unique baroque nave is punctuated by side chapels . It has a rich interior decor.
