Maharashtrian Golyachi Amti Recipe (Besan Balls In Tamarind Based Spicy Gravy) is similar to gatte ki kadhi that is a popular Rajasthani preparation. But this recipe does not use buttermilk to add to the gravy; instead, spicy tamarind water is added to make the gravy which is called amti. The golyachi or the gatte of besan has a lot more spices and is round in shape. Serve Maharashtrian Golyachi Amti Recipe (Besan Balls In Tamarind Based Spicy Gravy) hot with Roti, Butter Naan or Jeera rice for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients for dough balls:
- 1 cup gram Flour
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Paste
- 1/2 tsp Ginger Paste
- 1 Green Chilli Paste
- Coriander Leaves(chopped)
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin Seed Powder
- Salt
- 1 tbsp Oil
- Water

Ingredients for curry:
- 2-3 tbsp Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- Asafoetida
- 2 Onions(chopped)
- 1 tsp Ginger Paste
- 1 tsp Garic Paste
- 1 Green Chilli(chopped)
- 2 Tomatoes(chopped)
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
- Dry Coconut & Sesame Seeds Powder
- 1 tbsp Gram Flour
- 1 Ltr Water
- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1 tsp Tamarind Paste
- Salt
- Jaggery

Method:
1. Take gram flour in a large bowl, and add in garlic paste, ginger paste, chopped green chilli, chopped coriander leaves, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin seed powder, salt and mix it well
2. Add oil to this mixture; mix it and add water to make a dough
3. Apply some oil on your palms and start making medium-sized balls from the dough
4. Heat a pan and add 2-3 tbsp oil, and once the oil is heated add mustard seeds and let it splutter
5. After this, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, finely chopped onions
6. Once the onion turns light brown and soft, add ginger paste, garlic paste and saute it till the raw smell goes away
7. Now, add chopped green chilli and saute it for few seconds
8. Add chopped tomatoes to the mix and saute it till the mixture becomes soft
9. Now, add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and mix it
10. Add fry coconut & sesame seeds powder to the mix, followed by gram flour and let it roast
11. Now, add 1 ltr water to the mix, and then add garam masala powder, tamarind paste, salt, jaggery
12. Add the balls which were made before to the curry
13. Cover this and let it cook on a medium flame for 15-20 minutes
14. Take it out in a serving bowl and serve it hot
