IFRC allocates emergency fund to help N. Korea recover from typhoon

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies allocated 57-thousand U.S. dollars last Friday as emergency aid to help North Koreans affected by Typhoon Lingling.
According to Voice of America, the IFRC is using the fund to support 28-thousand people in Hwanghae-do, Pyongannam-do, and Hamkyong-do provinces, where the typhoon passed through over the weekend.
The money was used to alert people of the typhoon's path and possible damage... as well as conduct necessary on-ground surveys afterwards.
The Red Cross is distributing essential relief to the elderly, pregnant women and the disabled.
The international body says that the typhoon will affect the North's crop harvest in the fall.
