In Brazil, the Street Child World Cup kicked off in Rio de Janeiro as it hopes to raise awareness on the plight of disadvantaged youths. The 10-day event brings together over 230 children from 19 countries for a girls’ and boys’ football tournament and art showcase. The children, including representatives of the Philippines, will be competing over the next ten days on three separate fields. According to Save the Children, millions of street children around the world live and work on the street without protection and opportunity. -- Mornings @ ANC, March 31, 2014.
