MANILA – The operations of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT 3) were disrupted once again on Monday morning, causing heavy traffic and irritating passengers. MRT general manager Al Vitangcol said a "hairline crack" was observed in one of the tracks of the railway system at 5:50 a.m., prompting the suspension of operations between Shaw Boulevard and North Avenue stations. The inspection lasted until 6:10 a.m. The twenty-minute inspection, however, was enough to trigger long lines of morning rush hour passengers. In Quezon Avenue station, passengers immediately rushed down the stairs to take the bus after being told of the suspension of operations. This caused heavy traffic along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and adjacent roads. – reports from Francis Faulve, ABS-CBN News and Jon Ibañez, dzMM
