Korean orphans tell stories of abandonment and alienation

Filmmaker Glenn Morey’s short film Side by Side tells the stories of 100 South Korean orphans. Morey was abandoned at birth and adopted by an American couple when was 6 months old.  Another orphan, Jo Youn-hwan, was abandoned aged seven and was never adopted. He grew up in a vicious, hierarchical institution. Jo later founded the Orphan Rights and Interests Solidarity, the first-ever rights group for aged-out orphans in South Korea.
