SENIOR CONGRESS LEADER AND FORMER DELHI CHIEF MINISTER SHEILA DIKSHIT PASSED AWAY AGED 81 AT THE ESCORT HOSPITAL IN THE CAPITAL TODAY. DIKSHIT HAD BEEN KEEPING UNWELL OVER THE LAST FEW DAYS AND HAD ALSO BEEN HOSPITALISED. SHE WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR HER TENURE AS DELI'S CHIEF MINISTER FOR 15 YEARS FROM 1998 TO 2013. AFTER SERVING AS THE CHIEF MINISTER FOR 3 TERMS, SHEILA DIKSHIT WAS DEFEATED BY ARVIND KEJRIWAL IN THE 2013 ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS FROM THE NEW DELHI CONSTITUENY. SHE HAD A LONG AND ILLUSTRIOUS POLITICAL CAREER, FROM REPRESENTING THE KANNAUJ PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY TO HER MORE RECENT ROLE AS THE GOVERNOR OF KERALA AND THEN TAKING THE REINS OF THE DELHI PRADESH CONGRESS COMMITTEE AHEAD OF THE 2019LOK SABHA ELECTIONS. SHE WAS A FIGHTER TILL THE END, TAKING CHALLENGES IN THE DELHI CONGRESS HEAD ON.
