Ragaa Youssef Al-Shaitana Al-Saghira 1958

This clip is from the 1958 film Al Shaitana Al Saghira (The Little Devil) starring Ragaa Youssef and Ahmed Ramzy. In this scene, actor Ahmed Ramzy (who was briefly Nagwa Fouad’s husband in real life) has fallen in love with Ragaa Youssef’s character and is looking into his wine glass and he imagines her dancing. Ragaa Youssef was a circus performer who began her performing career in the Akef Circus and also in the El Helw Circus as an acrobat. She appeared in many films as an actress and as a dancer. Her sister Awatef Youssef was also a circus performer turned dancer and she and Ragaa danced as a duo in several films. However, Awatef retired quite young and Ragaa continued to dance and act on her own and went on to form her own film production company in partnership with her husband.
