Meek Mill Received the Social Justice Award From NYU

The annual McSilver Awards
took place at NYU on June 10. The ceremony recognizes: "Vanguards for Social Justice who
are prominent in their fields and
unafraid to use their platforms to help
create a more equitable and just world." Meek was among
six people who were
recognized for their efforts. Since being released from prison
last year, the 32-year-old rapper has made
criminal justice reform a priority. He is a founding partner and
co-chair of REFORM Alliance. He's raised over $50 million for the cause with the help
of Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin and
New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. The funds will be used in an attempt
to "dramatically reduce the number of people
who are needlessly trapped in the system." Meek made a statement upon
receiving the award.
