Dozens of competitors raced around the town of Wirksworth in Derbyshire on Saturday (May 25) in wheelbarrows stopping at pubs along the course to down beer.
The boozy annual event, known as the Wirksworth Wheelbarrow Race, requires pairs of participants to run a one-mile course with one sitting in the barrow and the other pushing.
Each team must stop at seven pubs along the way and drink, as quickly as possible, a half pint of beer before continuing the race.
