외국인 관광객 취향 잡는다... 한국의 게스트하우스 문화

Visitors to South Korea have many options to choose from when it comes to accommodation. Today we'll focus on the increasing number of guesthouses and their unique attraction.
Our Kan Hyeong-woo reports.
"Guesthouses in South Korea provide cheap places for travelers to stay... and it's safe to say that their conditions and locations are top-notch."
Many guesthouses offer individual lockers with a padlock so visitors don't have to worry about losing their items while they are out exploring during the day.
Staying at guesthouses also provides an excellent opportunity to meet other travelers.
Some places offer common areas to mingle in... including some on rooftops.
"For me it took less than one day to be accustomed to this place because the guys here were so welcoming. Also the guests, but the guys who were here. It felt like being home by not being home."
Most guesthouses are located near popular tourist attractions or in the middle of downtown areas,... providing easy access to tourist hotspots.
Dormitory style usually offers bunk beds which can accommodate between four and twelve people, but there are also options which offer more privacy,... if you're willing to pay a bit extra.
"So what is good in this place is that even though you share a room with at least ten people or eight, you have your own private space. And you feel safe and at the same time really comfortable because you don't have to look at other people living so it's really good."
According to the Korea Tourism Organization's research in 2015, there are about sixteen-hundred guesthouses in Seoul, Busan and Jeju Island.
