Welcome to S. Korea's guesthouses

Time now for our "Life & Info" segment,... where we focus on information useful for your everyday life.
Today we are going to talk about the increasing number of guesthouses in South Korea.
We have our Kan Hyeong woo in the studio to tell us more about the guesthouse experience in Korea.
So Hyeong woo, why are guesthouses and hostels becoming more popular here?
Well Mark, one thing that travelers find attractive about guesthouses is that they are cheaper than hotels.
While hotel prices vary depending on their star ratings,... staying at a guesthouse only costs about twenty U.S. dollars per person per night .
The price range is generally around that kinda price, but can be a little more expensive on the weekends.
But considering how cheap they are, the facilities and locations of the guesthouses are top notch.
Unless you book a private room, you'll have to use shared showers and toilets,... but they are kept in clean condition with towels, cleansing items and dryers provided, of course.
Many guesthouses also offer individual lockers with a lock so you don't have to worry about losing your items while you are traveling during the day.
Plus, they are located near popular tourist attractions or in the middle of downtown areas.
So they are cheap to stay at, but they are usually in great condition and convenient locations. Did you get to meet any travelers who stayed at guesthouses?
Yes, Indeed. So I've been to seven guesthouses so far. Five for personal trips, two for this report.
I talked to some foreigners about staying at a guesthouse and asked them how they felt. Let's take a listen.
"For me it took less than one day to be accustomed to this place because the guys here were so welcoming. Also the guests, but the guys who were here. It felt like being home by not being home."
"So what is good in this place is that even though you share a room with at least ten people or eight, you have your own private space. And you feel safe and at the same time really comfortable because you don't have to look at other people living so it's really good."
The lady said something about having your private space while sharing a room with several people. What's that about?
It's a bit of an unusual type of guesthouse room, but before I talk about that,... let me give you a rundown of the normal style.
So there are dormitories, family rooms and private rooms at a guesthouse.
Dormitory style usually offers bunk beds and can accommodate as many people as it has beds, but from what I found, the capacity is often between four and twelve.
Family rooms have two beds that can take up to four people and come with a small living room and a private bathroom.
Private rooms are usually for two people and they are similar to family rooms but smaller.
And about cube rooms, they are designed to accommodate as many people as possible by maximizing the number of beds in a room and minimizing the extra space.
If you go to a guesthouse, you are going to meet new people,
