China says asylum for ex-Interpol president’s family is ‘complete misuse’ of French law

After former Interpol president Meng Hongwei’s family was granted asylum in France, China’s Foreign Ministry said the move was a “complete misuse” of French legal procedure. Meng Hongwei was detained by China for corruption in September 2018. His wife, Grace Meng, has dismissed the allegations and said the arrest was politically motivated. (Photo: AFP)
