Best Chocolate Fondant Recipe - Taste Test Challenge | Good Housekeeping

We tasted our way through a ton of different melt-in-the-middle puddings to see which chocolates were the best combination.

Who doesn't love a chocolate fondant? They're rich, oozing, melt-in-the-middle chocolate puddings that are guaranteed to pique your interest when you see them on a restaurant menu.

But how about making them at home?

I must admit, I've only recently mastered the art of chocolate fondant making (thanks to a foolproof GH recipe), but it's easy to get them wrong. After all, a simple mistake like over baking can mean the lava cake's centre goes a little harder than desired.

But here in the GH test kitchen we had a plan to solve those melting mishaps for good - stick chocolate inside them of course!

We'd done this before with our Cheat's Chocolate Pudding, adding a Lindor ball to the centre, and at Easter we went one step further and made ones with creme eggs inside (YUM).

So how about this time round?

Enlisting the help of GH's Digital Cookery Writer, Ailsa Brown, we basically spent the day stuffing fondant after fondant with different chocolates and taste testing them afterwards - obviously - to find the best.

From a Celebrations box we tried out a Snickers, Bounty, Milky Way and Maltesers Teasers. Then we grabbed a Quality Street tin and tried the Big Purple One, the Green Triangle, a Toffee Penny and an Orange Cream.

Then, while we were there, we tested Ferrero Rochers, Guylian shells, Lindor balls again and some After Eights.

The results? Well, mixed. Some flopped completely (sorry After Eights), while the Guylian shells were phenomenal and the Bounty and Ferrero got mixed opinions.

Which ones would you go for?
