Pinkard & Bowden were very successful singers and songwriters who decided to team up in the 80s. Although they tried to write serious songs, they found that everything they penned was funny and so they turned their act onto the comedy club circuit and built up a following.
"Delta Dawn" is a parody of Tanya Tucker's debut single from 1972, with which she charted with at No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.
