From the 80's Channel 4 TV show 'The Unforgettables'
"Yellow River" was recorded by British popular band Christie. The song was first offered to The Tremeloes who were intending to release the single in 1970s, however they chose to use a different song, so the producer,Mike Smith, took their vocals off and added those of Jeff Christie. In 1970, it became a huge hit internationally and topped the charts in the UK in June 1970, two months after it's first release. 'Yellow River' is a song about the a young soldier in the US Civil War at the end of his service, looking forward to returning to his hometown in Yellow River.
