The Awakening of Natty Petrosino 2 of 3
(Spanish with English subtitles) The Awakening of Natty Petrosino. Natty Petrosino is now 70 years old. For the last 40 years, she has dedicated herself to helping the poor, the sick and the destitute in Argentina and in other parts of the world. She was born in a Argentina to a German rural family. As a young woman, thanks to her extremely good looks, she worked as a fashion model and even played in some movies in Buenos Aires. She married and had two sons. After a cancer operation, she changed her life completely and started helping all those in need in the streets and slums of Bahía Blanca, Argentina. Nowadays, she travels up to 4,500 miles a month in her country helping the poor, mainly in northern Argentina, in the province of Formosa, where she takes care of the Wichi aborigines.
Natty has received various prizes and awards in Argentina and in 2006 was awarded “The Woman of the Year” (“La Donna Dell'Anno”) prize, in Aosta, Italy, sponsored by the Italian government. In1978 Natty founded a home for handicapped children, vagabonds, unmarried women with children, unemployed people and Aids patients, as well as abandoned animals. During the years of the hyper-inflation in Argentina, she prepared and distributed up to 7,000 meals a day. In 1998, she donated her home to the Catholic church in order to devote all her time to help the Wichi tribes in the northern province of Formosa.
Natty's philosophy is "to serve all those in need without asking for retribution" in the name of the Lord Jesus. She is known in Argentina and elsewhere as “Mother Teresa of Argentina”. (However, Natty is neither attached nor affiliated to any church
or organization.)
