The real name of Nicki Minaj is Onika Tanya Maraj and she was born in Saint James, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Her father suffered from alcoholism and drugs, and later on, she would move on to the Bronx in New York City with her mother at the young age of 5. In the year 2000, at the age of 18, she was struggling to make a career in acting and as such, she worked as a waitress but she was fired 15 times for discourtesy to customers. However, she shifted her focus and was determined to make a career in the music business, and she took on backup singing roles for the local rappers of New York. Nicki Minaj released her first mixtape in 2007 'Playtime is Over' and two more in the coming years, later on, she would be discovered by Lil Wayne, enabling her to sign a contract with Young Money Entertainment. She has collaborated with many artists like Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. In 2010, she released her first album 'Pink Friday', in which she had 7 chart-topping singles in Billboard Hot100 and while doing so she became the first female solo artist to do so. The album debuted at no.2 in the Billboard 200 and ended up with more than 3 Million sales. In 2018, she announced the release of her 4th album 'Queen', it's lead single 'Chun-Li' peaked at number 10 in Billboard 100. Throughout her career, she is known to invent different alter-ego for her songs such as Harakuja Barbie and Nicki Lewinsky.
