유네스코 세계유산 후보로 오른 한국의 문화재 (Part 3)

Then, why is it important to have our assets added to the UNESCO World Heritage list?
An expert says it's important not just in terms having internationally recognized tourist attractions, but also for us to better understand the true meaning of these cultural properties. Let's hear from a professor about why such efforts are important.
"Having sites listed as a world heritage site means that Korea's cultural heritage is recognized not only from our own perspective but also from a global perspective. Through this process, we can also improve understanding of our cultural heritage."
Korea's local and central governments are trying to identify meaningful assets that are worthy of international recognition and conservation.
Korea currently has 14 sites on the tentative world heritage list including the seven Gaya Tumuli, located in the southern part of Korea. These are tombs from the ancient federation of Gaya which provide archaeological evidence of the ancient history of Korea and East Asia.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Korea's cultural and natural heritage sites becoming better known in the world. Thank you Min-sun for the reporting today.
