Not Ready for Tax Day?
Here's How to File
for an Extension Tax day is April 15, but many
people need more time. Extensions, which will give you an
extra six months, are common and easy to do. On IRS.gov, they can be
done with the program FreeFile
and not cost you a dime. Other tax services like
FileLater.com can also be used. If you don't want to file yourself, a tax accountant can do it for you. Filling out the
4868 extension form
is also easy. As well as your
social security number. You must also include payments
previously made for 2018. A tax liability estimate from
the previous year is required as well. Additional payments alongside
form 4868 can be done with a check. Paying over the phone
or online works too.
