For working parents and
mental health conscious millennials,
a four-day work week is an appealing option.
A four-day work week can
still mean working 40 hours a week.
Switching from 8 hours a day to 10 hours
allows for employees to choose a day off, whether that be Wednesday for a mid-week break or Friday to avoid heavy traffic congestion. Psychologist Adam Grant from Wharton School in Pennsylvania has conducted multiple experiments on the subject.
Grant also found that flexible hours
created a more loyal work relationship, as employees appreciated their employer’s
consideration for their lives outside of work.
Historian Rutger Bregman pointed
out that the idea of a shorter work week
isn’t a radical new concept.
