A cross-party group of backbenchers wants to hold a series of indicative votes this Wednesday in an attempt to find a majority for a Brexit compromise. The government opposes the plan and Theresa May caused consternation in the chamber when she said she would not commit the government to implementing the outcome of any vote. But she also admitted that she did not have enough support to bring back her own deal for a third try.
