BJP Leadership Unhappy Over SAD-INLD Alliance

The BJP today said its top leadership was "unhappy" with the decision of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to contest the Assembly polls in Haryana in alliance with Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).

The party also said at present there was "no proposal" for any post-poll alliance.

"The BJP leadership is unhappy with the SAD's decision to contest the Assembly polls in Haryana in alliance with the INLD," party general secretary and Haryana incharge, Vijay Goel, told reporters.

Former chief minister and INLD supremo Om Parkash Chautala had severed ties with the BJP ahead of the polls after the two political outfits failed to reach at a consensus on seat sharing in the 90-member Haryana assembly going to polls on October 13.

However, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal led SAD, which is a major constituent in the BJP-led NDA, is contesting two assembly seats in Haryana in alliance with the INLD, and supporting Chautala's candidates on the rest of the seats. SAD is running the government in Punjab on a critical support from the BJP.

Goel, who claimed that his party candidates are giving a "good fight" to rivals on at least 25 seats in Haryana, said his party had "no understanding" with the INLD and Haryana Janhit Congress for a post-poll alliance.

Earlier, BJP president Rajnath Singh had said that the party was open for an alliance with non-Congress forces after polls in Haryana.

Goel accused the ruling Congress in the state of misusing the official machinery for political gains. He alleged that the Congress would use "muscle and money power and bureaucracy" to tilt the balance in its favour.

He lashed out at Bhupinder Singh Hooda for seeking votes for Congress on the issue of development, and alleged that "Haryana had not progressed in the past five years."

Goel claimed that the BJP candidates would benefit due to infighting in Congress in Haryana.
