RSS intervenes in BJP- Shiv Sena alliance trouble

The RSS has not shown any interest in bringing the squabbling saffron siblings BJP and Shiv Sena together to stitch an alliance for the Maharashtra state elections scheduled on October 15. RSS has, for now, decided to wait and watch and may even not come in the way if the BJP decides to snap the 25-year-old alliance, party spokesman Manmohan Vaidya indicated on Thursday.

Asked if the Sangh would intervene in breaking the deadlock on seat-sharing talks, Vaidya held on to 'the no-politics-for us' line. "Both parties have senior leaders with experience and capability of handling the problem. We have absolutely nothing to do in this matter," he said.

The BJP and the Sena have one unifying factor - the Hindutva - that brought them together two decades ago. Much has changed after the demise of Sena founder Bal Thackeray who had some respect for the Sangh. But, that feeling is yet to be demonstrated by his son Uddhav.
