The 18th Lok Sabha's first session began with opposition protests against alleged constitutional violations by the Modi government. Led by Rahul Gandhi, opposition MPs held copies of the Constitution during oath-taking ceremonies. The protest stemmed from the appointment of BJP's Bhartruhari Mahtab as pro-tem Speaker.
