PM talks to Gogoi over Assam violence - NewsX

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has spoken to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to discuss the law and order situation in the state and assure full support following violent clashes in Kokrajhar and Gossaigaon where six people have been killed since the weekend. Curfew had been clamped for days in the areas and the army has now been deployed to control the situation. The Prime Minister is understood to have expressed grief and shock over the resurgent violence in Assam and assured that the central government would take all necessary measures to curb the violence and assist the State government in restoring normalcy.
