Social activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal will take forward his 'bijli paani' satyagraha today, to protest against inflated power and water bills and hike in tariffs by the Delhi government. Kejriwal's organization India Against Corruption has planned a major dharna for today. Calling it a form of 'civil disobedience' they are also to burn electricity bills in 114 municipal wards of the city in protest. Kejriwal claimed that MPs and former MPs owe huge amounts to power companies but their connections were not disconnected, and only the poor citizen is terrorised. On Saturday, Kejriwal began the protest by reconnecting the electricity supply in a household where power had been disconnected due to non-payment of a hefty bill. Kejriwal has dared the law to take legal action against him.
