With the bail order for Dr Chisty and his likely release from prison today, all eyes are now on Pakistan... on whether it will reciprocate India's gesture with freedom for Sarabjit Singh who is in prison in that country after being convicted for waging terror. Releasing Sarabjit at this juncture is an opportunity for Pakistan to build on the positive mood raised by bail for Dr Chisty.
Politically, it would an ideal time for Pakistan to act on India's plea to release Sarabjit Singh... for the sake of building on the positive mood and distracting from the terror focus in the relationship. Dr Chisty was released on humanitarian grounds on Zardari's request. The same would be the case for Sarabjit and it would send positive signals on Pakistan's intent.
