China has discovered a reserve of over 100 billion cubic metres of natural gas inside the country’s second largest oil and gas field.
The China National Offshore Oil Corporation said the discovery in the Bozhong 19-6 gas field in northern China’s Bohai Bay is enough to support a million people’s energy supplies for more than 100 years. The discovery is considered a milestone since the complicated terrain makes finding natural reserves very difficult in the Bohai Sea, the innermost gulf of the Yellow Sea.
Meanwhile, in Xinjiang, oil and gas company PetroChina drilled an onshore well of over 8,800 metres (28,900 feet), making it reportedly the deepest onshore oil well in the world.
