Amazon Go after 1 year... automated stores to become more common
It's been a year since the first Amazon Go store was opened to the public. Customers have been experiencing the convenience of using the automated store, and experts say that more of these kinds of stores will appear over the next few years.

It's already been a year since 'Amazon Go', a partially-automated store where customers are able to purchase products without having to use a checkout, began operations.
Customers have been experiencing the convenience of 'Amazon Go', where they can simply walk in, pick out the groceries needed and simply walk out. Rather than waiting in line at the checkout, customers scan the item with the Amazon Go application and their Amazon account is charged.
Although such stores are still in the beginning stage, a lot of businesses are coming up with new technology which could change the environment of offline distribution channels.
Some offline stores are being automated by using an AI system attached to cameras to help check purchases.
Experts are saying that such automated stores will become common in the near
future.
"I think within 10 years from now it will be very common and in fact maybe it will be weird to go to a store that doesn't have autonomous checkout."
However, there are still issues that need to be solved. There are concerns that with more automated stores, there will be decline in jobs and although automated stores will increase, how long it takes for them to become commonplace depends on the time it takes for technology to run the stores without any problems.
