The Number of Friends You Have Depends On Your Brain According to a new study from British anthropologist Dr. Robin Dunbar, humans keep relationships throughout
their lives with an average of 148 people. Dunbar says the human brain processes a certain amount of social information, before a cutoff point hits at around 150 contacts. The next one contains up to 15, 35 for the one after and 100 in the final layer. Dunbar goes to say that when one's number of friends increases, emotional closeness to
them decreases.
