South Korea's presidential office said Saturday it welcomes the agreement between Washington and Pyongyang to hold a second summit meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Presidential spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom said Seoul hopes that the upcoming U.S.-North Korea summit will be "a turning point" to bring about peace and the complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

The White House announced on Friday that the U.S. and North Korea will hold a second meeting between Trump and Kim in late February.

It did not give a specific date or location for the summit.
